Fishing out of Leland
Fishing out of Leland is a total fishing experience. You have the open waters of Lake MIchigan and the sheltered bays of the Manitou Islands. Leland has probably the prettiest port and shoreline on Lake Michigan.
We start fishing in May primarily along the shoreline of Lake Michigan for lake trout and brown trout. By the middle of June we start running offshore (20-30 miles) for rainbow trout. These trips are real special because we actually fish on the surface in 500 feet of water where the rainbow are feeding on bug hatches.
By the end of June the big king salmon show up around the Manitou Islands. We continue fishing for kings well into the fall. Many of these fish are in the 20 pound class.
